Tender Nothings

This is a poem inspired by a song that was coming on the radio while I was driving home from a golf tournament. For some reason, the song which I had never heard before started to bug me. Even before I had heard one line, or knew what it was about, it started to get under my skin. Turns out that I just was not in the mood.

Tender Nothings

My wife just had a heart attack

She's passed out on the bed

It may be that she's never heard

The words that I just said

She's heard me say a lot of things

Some bordering on the lewd

But she has never heard me say

"NO THANKS... not in the mood!"
